The Ocean Token

The Ocean Protocol Foundation, as the original issuer of the $OCEAN token, renounced all control over the $OCEAN token contract since mid-2023.

Following this cessation of active management, the Ocean community and ecosystem projects now have full autonomy to use the $OCEAN token in any manner that suits their product and go-to-market strategy, aligning with the ideals of decentralized AI.

Ocean ecosystem teams can integrate the $OCEAN token into their products for various purposes, including staking, platform functionality, governance, payment, NFTs, DeFi, memes, rewards, or any other purpose they deem fit.

The Ocean Protocol Foundation will continue to act as a resource for anyone seeking information on the history and provenance of the $OCEAN token, and will support integrations. It will also coordinate the development of Ocean technology and guide ecosystem teams in integrating into the Ocean stack.

The total token supply is fully emitted, circulating, and permanently capped at approximately 268,000,000 $OCEAN. The supply may decrease in the future depending on the actions and usage decisions of the Ocean community and ecosystem projects.
